IN LOVING MEMORY

Michael Ramon Meyer

Jul 05 1950 - Jan 22 2012

Michael Ramon “Mike” Meyer of Plano, Texas passed away January 22, 2012 at age 61. Born July 5, 1950 to Louis R. and Ellora (McAfee) Meyer of Owensboro, Kentucky. Mike was a 1968 graduate of Richardson High School, where he met his future wife, Pamela Keese. He graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1972. Mike and Pamela married June 8, 1973 in Dallas. Throughout his career in insurance and financial services, Mike remained passionate about public service. He served two terms on the Plano City Council from 1987-1991, was active in the Plano Chamber of Commerce and graduated from Leadership Plano. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Meyer of Plano; daughter Jenny Burns, husband Kevin, and 2-year-old granddaughter Ava of Allen, Texas; sons Jarrod Meyer of Ft. Hood, Texas, and Adam Meyer of Plano; brothers Greg Meyer of Sumter, South Carolina, Nick Meyer of Dallas; and sisters Char Hinkley of Dayton, Ohio, and Cindy Gramly of Prosper, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Ellora Meyer. His family will miss his calm, caring tone, and the way he always knew just the right thing to say when it was needed, as well as his gift for the well-placed joke. They will remember the distinctive blessings before holiday meals and his love for special time spent with his children and granddaughter. Mike shared his time and love of sports with all who knew him; from Stars games and golf with the boys, to watching the Cowboys or the Rangers with the family along with a Sunday meal at the house. His family and friends shared his joy in spending time with him at home, talking to his children, or playing with his granddaughter. Mike found his greatest success in the three children he raised and his marriage to his best friend, Pamela. In them, he is reflected best. Through their faces, actions and words, each day Mike remains with us. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2012 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, with interment to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
