Michael Ray Matthews

Michael Ray Matthews was born June 21, 1945 at Los Angeles, California to Cecil Hugh Matthews and Mary Evelyn Sherrell. He married Sherilyn Kay Wood on July 15, 1992 at Point, Texas. He died Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Texas at the age of 69. He was a resident of Leonard, Texas.

Mike was a retired Service Man with Texas-New Mexico Power after 31 years. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by wife, Sherilyn Matthews of Leonard; daughter, Lisa Raynette Butler and husband Rudy Barrientes of Carrollton; daughter, Michael Renee Bryson and husband Brent of Leonard; son, Jimmy Dewayne Dickeson and wife Jenny of Greenville; grandchildren, Rex Butler, Ted Butler, Mason Butler, T.J. Stahley, Josh Bryson, Breanna Bryson, Ian Dickeson, Brady Dickeson, Gavin Dickeson, and Destiny Querry; sisters, Marian Croley, Melva Powell, Marletta Scribner, Kathryn Cress; brother, Luke Dixon; sisters-in-law, Linda Dudley, Glenda Davis, Reba Nicholson, Marilyn Rogan; brother-in-law, Mark Wood; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by father, Cecil Hugh Matthews; mother, Evelyn Sherrell; grandmother, Mollie Sherrell; mother-in-law, Margarete Wood; and sister-in-law, Rita Sinquefield and Greg Rogan.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Leonard, Texas. Officiating the service will be Eugene Kegans. Burial will follow at Leonard Cemetery in Leonard, Texas. Pallbearers will be Rex Butler, Ted Butler, Mason Butler, T. J. Stahley, Ian Dickeson and Eddy Ray Dixon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dewayne Dickeson, Josh Bryson, Gregg Sudderth, Clint Scribner, Justin Cress, Brady Dickeson and Gavin Dickeson.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Friday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 6-8pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Leonard, Texas.
