Max Edward Garren, Jr., III, age 84, of McKinney, Texas, passed away May 27, 2013, in McKinney. Max was born December 26, 1928, in Colon Republic of Panama. He married Betty A. Cruz on February 20, 1965, in Fort MacArthur in San Pedro, California. Max was a twenty year veteran in the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. After retiring from the Army, Max spent twenty years in the civil service in Port Hueneme, California. Max was an avid San Francisco 49er fan; but most of all he loved his grandchildren dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Betty A. Garren of McKinney, Texas; children, son, Michael Garren of Oxnard, California, Jimmy E. Garren and wife, Norma, Michelle R. Seyl and husband, Eric, both of McKinney, Texas, Max E. Garren, IV and wife, Lupe of Richmond, California, Harry Garren and wife, Nellie of Stockton, California, and Jeanette Garren and husband, Javier Palafox, also of California; nineteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; half-sisters, Dawn and Margie; special friend, Bert Wallace; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2013, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas.  A rosary will take place on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 7:00 p.m., with a visitation to follow at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas .

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org and also volunteering time at your local VFW post.
