IN LOVING MEMORY

Matthew Justin McGahee

Sep 18 1989 - Mar 29 2014

Matthew Justin McGahee, age 24, of Addison, Texas, passed away on March 29, 2014. He was born September 18, 1989, in Athens, Georgia. Matthew was a 2008 graduate of Sherman High School (where he was a self-proclaimed “athlete” in the band) and a 2012 graduate of the University of Texas in Austin. Matthew exemplified dedication, confidence and hard work, balanced with an innate ability to charm others with his infectious smile (unfairly enhanced by fantastic dimples); a young man who was fun-loving, yet capable of leading others by example and personifying his favorite quote, "Our fingerprints never fade from the lives we touch." Like ripples in a pond, his warmth and that "something special" touched everyone he met.

Matthew is survived by his father, Jeff McGahee and wife Kim of Plano, Texas; mother, Sandra Maria Arndell Estes and husband Gary of Tom Bean, Texas; his love, Renata Strebe, of Addison, Texas; dogs, Bella and Brody; siblings Ryan McGahee, Justin Estes of Carrolton, Texas, Audrey Morrow of Conway, Arkansas, Lydia Morrow of Frisco, Texas, Taylor Estes of Sherman, Texas, Austin Flippin of Plano, Texas, Christian Harvey of College Station, Texas, Alyson Harvey of Plano, Texas and Zachary Harvey of Plano, Texas; nephew Phoenix McGahee; paternal great grandmother, Cleo Purvis of Stapleton, Georgia; paternal grandparents Carolyn Smith and husband, Curtis of Mesena, Georgia; uncles, Claude Justin Arndell, Jr of Albany, New York and Chris McGahee and wife Pam of Nicholson, Georgia; aunts, Debbie Shugart and husband Eric of Watkinsville, Georgia, Deborah Arndell of New York, New York and Michelle Arndell of Lincoln Park; cousins, Rebekah Shugart Wingo and husband Wyatt of Dayton, Oregon, Christopher McGahee of Nicholson, Georgia, and Elizabeth Shugart of Watkinsville, Georgia,
