Mary Ellen Wheeler, age 87, of Fairview, Texas, passed away August 19, 2009, in Fairview. Mary Ellen was born July 27, 1922 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, to Elmer Clifford and Della Mae (McDaniel) Locke. She married Eldred Brown Wheeler on July 26, 1942 in Port Arthur, Texas. Mary Ellen was an active member of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas where she participated in the Bible Study Fellowship and taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of Texas, president of the wives of Texas Society Professional Engineers, as well as, a member of the Dallas Power Squadron at Lake Texoma. Mary Ellen was also a past president of the Homeowner’s Association at Melshire Estates in Dallas, Texas. She is survived by her daughters, Peggy J. Wheeler of Fairview, Texas, Mary Ellen Heath of Austin, Texas, Betty Jean Barnett of Los Angeles, California, and Gayle Ann Dudley of Nathrop, Colorado; grandchildren, Melissa Flohr, Adam Griebel and his wife, Laura, Erin Dudley, and Danny Dudley and his wife, Shelley; great-grandchildren, D. J., Alexandria, Blake, Madeleine, Emmett, and Everett; brother, Elmer C. Locke of Dallas, Texas; and sister, Peggy June Locke of Norfolk, Virginia, who passed away on August 23, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred Brown “Bill” Wheeler in 2000 and sister, Doris Locke Logsdon. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas with Dr. Blair R. Monie and Rev. Elizabeth McLean officiating.
