Mary Kathryn Murray, age 71, of Frisco, Texas, passed away on November 27, 2014 in Frisco.

Mary was born on July 11, 1943 in Sibley, Iowa, to Joseph Leo and Agatha Lauretta Wellendorf Miller. Mary moved with her family to Estherville, Iowa in 1953. She graduated from Estherville High School in 1961 and attended Briar Cliff College. Mary was united in marriage to Gary Thomas Murray in November 1964. She worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Healthcare Industry and was a member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville, IA.

In 2004, Mary moved to Frisco, Texas, to be near her daughters and granddaughter. She was proud to have been the caregiver at the Lakes Tennis Academy’s Child Watch Program in Frisco, which they named “Miss Mary’s House” in her honor. Mary found great joy in working with the children and was heartbroken to have to retire for health reasons. She made friends wherever she went and was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

In her long fight against breast cancer, Mary was a pillar of strength and a great source of comfort and support to others. She was very active in the Cancer Support Group in Estherville Iowa as well as the Emmet County Relay for life. She lived her life with grace and believed in sharing the message of hope.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Murray Powaser, and her husband Patrick, of Houston, Texas and Ann Marie Hughes, and her husband Randy, of Frisco, Texas; granddaughter, Kathryn Mary Cutts of College Station; brother, Skip Miller, and his wife Diane, of Okoboji, Iowa; sister, Becky Atwood, and her husband Jim, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, two nephews and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco, Texas with Father Anthony Mathew presiding.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to Relay For Life in Emmet County, Iowa.
