IN LOVING MEMORY

Mary Leta Phipps

Oct 16 1918 - Sep 11 2012

Mary Leta Phipps, 93, of Celina, Texas, went home with her family by her side on September 11, 2012, in Glen Rose, Texas.  She was born Mary Leta Hays on October 6, 1918. Mary Leta was married to Charles Isaac Phipps on June 30, 1934, and he preceded her in death December 6, 1989. She is survived by two sons, Albert Lee Phipps and Donnie Phipps, and a daughter Mary Charles Campbell; as well as 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; one grandson preceded her in death. Mary Leta was the last surviving of 11 children, many of whom lived in Celina.  Mary was a lifelong Texas resident. She and her husband owned a farm in Anna, Texas where they raised their children. They were very active members of theFirst Baptist Church in Anna. They retired to Denison, Texas for several years, and then moved to Celina when Charles had failing health. She loved reading her Bible and sharing her love of God's Word with others. She worked for Texas Instruments in Richardson and Sherman, Texas until retirement.  Mary Leta was a dedicated parent and grandparent; an energetic, compassionate, and giving woman who always put others first. She loved to cook and bake, especially for holiday gatherings for family and church functions. She loved having company, sewing, working in her flower beds, playing cards and walking with her friends. She loved birds of all types, especially hummingbirds; the simple beauty found in nature. In retirement, she enjoyed fishing and camping with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and one of her favorite trips was to the Holy Land.   Mary Leta will most be remembered for her contagious laugh, her warm hugs, and her benevolence toward all.  Family will receive friends during visitation Thursday, September 13th from 6-8 pm at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Celina, Texas. Funeral Services for our beloved Mother and Grandmother will be at the First Baptist Church Celina, Texas Friday September 14th at 10:30 am, burial following at the Cottage Hill Cemetery.  If you so desire memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Celina, Cottage Hill Cemetery or to the Alzheimer's Association
