Mary Louise Phillips Lee

Mary Louise Phillips Lee, age 86, of McKinney, Texas, passed away November 4, 2011, in McKinney. Mary Lou was born February 14, 1925 to Albert Christian and Josephine (Scott) Jensen in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married William George Phillips on May 7, 1948 in Los Angeles, California. He preceded in death in 1986. She later married Leonard Edward Lee on February 14, 1990, in Anaheim, California. Mary Lou’s mother was the first female Utah legislator in the 1940’s. Mary Lou was the first female Rotarian in Orange County, California and she continued as the secretary for McKinney Rotary for many years. She owned and successfully operated Phillips Printing and Lithography in Anaheim with her first husband for many years. Mary Lou supported the P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) which provides women an opportunity to attend college through scholarships and grants. She was born and raised in the Mormon faith, converted to First Presbyterian with William George and was active in the church, including the Forever Ship, for many years in Anaheim. She later converted to the Baptist faith with Leonard. Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Leonard E. Lee of McKinney, Texas; sons, Richard B. Phillips and wife, Helen of Newbury Park, California and Kevin S. Phillips; five grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William George Phillips and sister, Jo Anne B. Reyes. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas.
