Mary Elizabeth Judd Jones was born December 16, 1929 in Tom Bean, Texas to George Wesley Judd and Zelma Stephens Judd. She married Bernard Murray Jones on September 20, 1947 in Tom Bean, Texas. She died Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Medical Center of McKinney in McKinney, Texas at the age of 84. She was a resident of Tom Bean, Texas.
Mary had been active and supportive in the creation of the Tom Bean Library and spent many hours working to make the library a great success for the children of Tom Bean. She was an avid reader and loved to share her passion for reading with children. She was instrumental in the Dollar General Store that will be opening in Tom Bean in September 2014. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Tom Bean.
She is survived by son, Bernard Larry Jones and wife Donna of Tom Bean; son, Johnny Jones of Tom Bean; daughter-in-law, Helen Jones of Tom Bean; sister, Beverly Capps of Tom Bean; grandchildren, Curtis Jones and wife Beth of Anna; Karen Jones and Johnny Vaughn of Plano; Kevin Jones and wife Kristin of LaVernia; Jordan Jones and wife Clara of Tom Bean; great-grandchildren, Garrett and Abby of Anna, Alexander of LaVernia and Caroline of Tom Bean; sisters-in-law, Jerrie Judd of Borger, Deborah Judd of Sherman and Thelma Jones of Tom Bean; numerous nieces and nephews and a very special family friend Ricky Chitwood of Tom Bean. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Zelma Judd; husband, Bernard Jones; son, Kirk Jones; daughter, Mary Kathleen Jones; brothers, Douglas, Stephen and Ralph Judd; sister, Eutolia Farkas.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 26, 2014 at First Baptist Church, Tom Bean, Texas. Officiating the service will be Brother Shawn Paschal and Albert Ellis. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright, Texas. Pallbearers will be Jason Lankford, Charles Judd, Howard Judd, Dick Round, Ricky Chitwood, Michael Jones, Don Russell, Joe Judd, Ron Hamilton, Ronnie Pennell, David Ellis, and Larry Billner. Honorary Pallbearers will be Curtis, Karen, Kevin, Jordan, Garrett, Abby, Alexander, Caroline Jones; James Hall Jones, James Griffin, Woody Priest, Eddie Griffin, Johnny Head and Billy Joe Hardin.
Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Friday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 6-8pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Tom Bean, Texas.
