Mary Jane Bryant Scott

Mary Jane Bryant Scott, age 77, of Fairview, Texas passed away July 7, 2012. She was born May 10, 1935 in Tarrant County, Texas to Andrew J. Anderson and Phena Elizabeth (Smith) Anderson. Mary Jane was the granddaughter of a pioneer family, Napoleon B. Anderson. She grew up on the Anderson Home Place, which was a major farmsite in Cedar Hill, Texas. She attended grade school in Dallas during WWII. She graduated from Cedar Hill High School. Mary Jane was a 1956 graduate of Texas Tech University, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority.  She married Joe Sam Bryant in 1955. They had two children, Elizabeth and Joe. On July 11, 1986, Mary Jane married Adam F. Scott. They lived in Honduras for three years and retired to Lubbock in 1989. They moved to Fairview, Texas in 2007 to be closer to Mary Jane’s children.  She was a member of The Lubbock Club, the Junior League of Lubbock, member and sustaining member of The Ladies Club of Lubbock and a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lubbock.

 

She is survived by her husband of twenty-six years, Adam F. Scott;  daughter, Elizabeth Turner and husband, Rick of Prosper, Texas; son, Joe Bryant and wife, Karla of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren: Mary Beth Turner, Emma Turner, Hillary Bryant and Joseph P. Bryant;   sister, Anda Gillis of Williamsburg, Virginia; niece, Sandra Gillis; nephew, Andrew Gillis ;  step-children: Dana Scott and wife, Mercedes , Bradley Scott, Jennifer Scott, step-grandchildren: Ashley  Scott,  Audrey Scott, Adam E. Scott, and Katherine  Lin.

 

She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew J. Anderson and her mother, Phena E. Anderson.

 

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 19, 2012, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013, with Pastor Samantha Parson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the charity of your choice.
