Mary Beth Jaffe

Mary Beth Jaffe, beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and friend left many broken-hearted with her unexpected passing on the evening of January 24, 2013 at the age of 70. She was born August 13, 1942 in Wilmette, Illinois to Daniel Joseph Shea, Jr. and Sylvia Marie (Keil) Shea. On October 9, 1993 she married David Spurway Jaffe in Evanston, Illinois. In her wake she left a lifelong testimony to her conviction of family and friends.  She embodied the true meaning of unconditional love.  She touched many lives and all were better for knowing her. 

She is survived by daughters, Kelly Burke and partner, Chris Penzkofer of McKinney, Texas, Elizabeth Allphin and husband, Brian of Frisco, Texas; son, Rob Burke and wife, Sherri of Stanley, New York; step-daughters, Tina Plunkett and husband, Michael of Glenview, Illinois, Julie Lavin and husband, Jerry of Wilmette, Illinois; step-son, Steve Jaffe of Glenview, Illinois; granddaughters, Addi Burke, Lily Burke, Olivia Allphin and Elizabeth Allphin; grandsons, Caleb Burke, Lucas Burke; step-granddaughters, Hanna Durham, Tess Durham, Maeve Plunkett and Sophia Lavin; step-grandsons, Alexander Durham, Justin Durham and Brendan Plunkett; sisters, Joanne Pressler of Momence, Illinois, Kathleen Sanders of Kansas City, Missouri, Eileen Necas of Zion, Illinois; brother, Daniel Shea of Wheaton, Illinois and her beloved dog Half-Pint.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sylvia Shea; husband, Dave Spurway Jaffe.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 28, 2013 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. The family will receive friends for a remembrance gathering on Sunday from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to One Step at a Time Camp, Lake Geneva in Williams Bay, Wisconsin.
