Mary Lou Ereckson

Mary Lou Ereckson, the youngest daughter of Johnnie Hampton and Grace Lenore (Stocks) Ledbetter went to be with the Lord on April 22, 2012 surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born December 30, 1930 Clinton, Oklahoma and baptized April 22, 1945. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who quietly and tirelessly served others. She lovingly cared for her husband and both of their parents who all preceded her in death along with grandson Thomas Preston Ereckson. Her education began in Clinton during the depression. After graduation from McKinney High School she attended the University of North Texas, and become a secretary. On September 7, 1951 she married Allen school namesake Thomas Hugh Ereckson, settling in Allen where they raised three children, and were members of the First Christian Church. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and throughout her children’s schooling volunteered in the PTO serving as officer, was a Cub Scout den mother, room mother, and Sunday school teacher. Mary Lou was a talented seamstress, enjoyed genealogy, and an avid reader curious of the world; with an eye for goodness, beauty, birds and nature. She is remembered for her quiet unassuming demeanor, grace, intelligence, and for her enjoyment of life, love of home and family. She had the ability to make each child feel loved and unique in her presence, always taking the time to attend their activities. Through picnics, excursions, and playing games she is remembered for making every day events lasting memories-what she shared lives on forever with each. Every season and birthday was a time of celebration, her prime purpose maintaining the family connection each day. The family is deeply saddened and heartbroken. Surviving children are son Johnny Eugene Ereckson of Allen, Thomas Hugh “Tommy” Ereckson and wife Sharon Lee (Flanagan) of VanAlystne and their daughter Elizabeth Ann Tesh and husband Lucas of Corinth; daughter Debra Lynn and husband Dwayne Louis Arledge of Allen and their children John Ereckson Arledge of Allen and fiancee Taylor Neeley of Prosper, and Mary Alayne and husband Tommy Hill of Frisco. Great grandchildren include Lila Clarie and Oliva Carroll Tesh and Collin Thomas Hill. She is survived by sister, Fern Reed of McKinney; sister, Fran Smith and husband Felix of McKinney; brother, Jack Ledbetter and wife Arnetta of McKinney; and brother, Pat Ledbetter and wife Rhonda of VanAlystne. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 25, 6:00-8:00 PM at Turrentine Jackson Morrow, Allen. Funeral service will be Thursday, 11:00 AM, Allen Historic Village Christian Church, 450 E. St. Mary Dr., Reverend June Franck officiating. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Foundation for Allen Schools, Ereckson Middle School, 601 E. Main St, Allen, TX 75002.
