Mary Dell Starnes King was born September 1, 1941, in Hawkins,Texas to Syble Starnes and Elizabeth Folmer Starnes. She married Jimmy King on April 1, 1961, in Hawkins, Texas. She passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ Hospital in Sherman, Texas at the age of 71. She was a resident of Whitewright, Texas.

Mary Dell loved life and lived to the fullest every day. She enjoyed art class and Canasta club. She loved to cook and to bless others with her cooking. She was an active supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Mary Dell was a servant, she was a volunteer at the Whitewright Public Library, and served her community wherever she could. Even after passing away she continued to give, as an organ donor. She loved her church and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. Mary Dell was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by daughter, Cheryl Garrett and her husband Tim of Whitewright; son, J.J. King of Tom Bean; grandchildren, Tavis, Laycee, Lexton and Madison; sister, Myra Babin and husband Bob of Katy; sister, Sue Higgs of Garland; sister, Gayla Cottrell and husband Lonnie of White Oak; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 50 years, Jimmy King.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church, Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Mike Rutledge. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Cottrell, Bob Babin, Lee Braly, Tim Garrett, Jim Rogers, and Ricky Higgs. Honorary Pallbearer will be Scott Hanson.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Tuesday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, from 6-8pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright,Texas.
