IN LOVING MEMORY

Mary Jane Baker

May 17 1931 - May 26 2010

Born in Bastrop County, Texas, Mary Jane Royston grew up on a farm near Smithville, TX, the youngest of four children. She studied geology at Texas Tech University for three years before marrying George Baker in 1951. After a detour to Boston for George’s graduate program at MIT, and several stops in upper state New York, the Bakers settled in Richardson, Texas where George went to work as an electrical engineer for Texas Instruments. They raised their two sons there and were active in the community. Jane first pursued a career in real estate and then went to work in the finance office at Southern Methodist University, where she served for 28 years. Upon retirement, the Bakers moved to Fairview, Texas where they enjoyed a quiet life and travelling with friends in the Plano Good Sam RV club. After George’s death in 2005, Jane remained in Fairview before moving to Austin in 2007 to be near her son Paul and his family. Jane is survived by her sons Paul Baker and his wife Wravan Godsoe of Austin, and Dale Baker and his wife Erica Renew of Vienna, Virginia; grandchildren Claire Baker of St. Louis, Missouri, and Bryan Baker of Denton, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will take place at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
