Martha Lou Wharton Simon, age 96, of Gainesville, Texas, passed away February 28, 2008, in Gainesville. Martha was born October 2, 1911, in Paris, Texas, to Joe and Kate (Hope) Denton. She married Jeff R. Wharton on November 30, 1933 in Paris, Texas. She later married Robert N. Simon, Jr. on March 31, 1979. Martha was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in McKinney, Texas. She was also past president of The Owl Forum in McKinney. She is survived by her daughter, Katie Price and her husband, Pat of Gainesville, Texas; son, Don Wharton and his wife, Paula, of Dallas, Texas; grandsons, Jeff Wharton and his wife Flora of McKinney, Texas and Joe Wharton and his wife, Monica of Dallas, Texas; step-daughter Nancy Simon Dodson and her husband, Ken of McKinney, Texas; six great-grandchildren; numerous other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jeff Wharton and Robert Simon, two sisters, and five brothers. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas with Rev. Mally Baum officiating. The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service at graveside. Memorials may be made to the Cooke County Home Hospice or Collin County SPCA.
