Martha Marion Pitts, age 84, of Rockwall, Texas peacefully passed from this life on February 7, 2011. She was born August 2, 1926 in Allen, Texas to Jim M. Marion and Laura Mae (Coats) Marion. On June 21, 1946 she married Leroy James Pitts in Great Falls, Montana. Martha was a graduate of Allen High School. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lt. Col. Leroy J. Pitts. “The Col.” and Mrs. Pitts were longtime residents of Greenville, Texas, where she began her 50 year ownership of Merle Norman Cosmetics. In 2005 she acquired a second studio in Rockwall, Texas. She is survived by her dedicated daughters, Linda Pitts Roberts and husband, Ronnie of Mesquite, Texas and Laura Pitts Taylor and husband, Ben of Mesquite, Texas; grandchildren, Keely Agee, Keenan Steele, Anastasia Taylor and Jacob Taylor; great-grandchildren, Layla, Lucy and Lila; sister Jimmie Boyd of Dallas, Texas. In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Laura Marion; sisters, Connie Betts and Maurice Burnheimer. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday beginning at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Allen, Texas.
