Martha L. Olsen, age 86, of McKinney, Texas, passed away November 20, 2008, in McKinney. Martha was born July 4, 1922 in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Knud and Vera Olsen. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1940 and married her high school sweetheart, Robert E. Olsen on November 7, 1941, at Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. The family moved to McKinney, Texas in August of 1965. Martha became District Assistant to Congressman H. Ray Roberts in his home office in McKinney from 1966 until he retired from the United States Congress 4th District of Texas in 1980. She then became secretary to the McKinney Chamber of Commerce for three years and retired in December, 1983. Martha has been a member of the Book Review Club, Social Workers of First United Methodist Church, member of WGA both at McKinney Country Club and Hurricane Creek Country Club and has held all offices in Owl Forum Club of McKinney. She is survived by her husband, Robert Olsen; three children, Karren Evans and husband, Dan of Coleman, Texas, Michael Olsen and his wife, Nancy of Westminster, Colorado, and Jon William Olsen and his wife, Linda of Garland, Texas; loving grandchildren; and sister, Marlyne Brindle of Conrad, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 24, 2008, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen Texas with Dr. Jim Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
