On Thursday, June 7, 2007, Martha Mildred Miles passed away at Baybrooke Village Adult Day Care and Rehabilitation in McKinney, Texas. She was born in Greenville, North Carolina to George Hendrix and Lillie (Johnston) Harris. Mildred resided in Arlington Virginia and worked for many years as a beautician in Arlington, Virginia. She was the beloved wife of the late, William W. Miles; loving mother of Jewel D. Laveau of Laurel, Maryland, Joseph S. Carter, Jr. of McKinney, Texas, Jimmy D. Carter of Fairfax, Virginia, Carolyn Seemann of McKinney, Texas and Kenneth R. Carter of Dale City, Virginia; step-daughters, Carol Ann Donahue of Richmond, Virginia and Jill M. Knisely of West Virginia; step-son, William W. Miles, Jr. (Billy) of Richmond, Virginia; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Lillie Harris; her husband, William Warner Miles; granddaughter, Michelle Carter; four brothers and four sisters. Memorial services will be held at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, June 17, 2007, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 16825 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Springs Maryland 20905. Graveside services will be held 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, with Bob Cunningham, minister, officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 16825 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Springs Maryland 20905.
