Marion M. Brown, Jr., 56, loving husband, father, brother and friend, passed away peacefully at home in McKinney, TX, Sunday morning, June 29, 2014.

The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7-9 pm on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, TX, 75013. Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Thursday, July 3, 2014, with interment to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen.

Marion was born September 1, 1957, in the Kansas City, MO, to Marion and Agatha Brown. ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­He grew up in Marshalltown, IA, graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1975 and obtained a Bachelor Degree in Business Management from the University of Iowa in 1979.

Marion was an insurance broker for over 25 years. He was a member of Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church in Allen and was part of a weekly men’s Bible study and couples Sunday school class. He participated in mission trips to Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, which he attended with his children.

Marion loved all competitive sports and was an avid cyclist, disc golf and Scrabble player. He loved to travel the world. He was a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Marion sang many years with The Men of Note, barbershop chorus, and competed in Germany with the group. He particularly loved entertaining family and friends at his home.

Marion was preceded in death by his infant brother, Lawrence Brown, parents, and sister, Peggy Page.

Cherishing Marion’s memory are wife, Connie Brown, daughter, Crystal Brown and son, Joey Poston; siblings, Karen (Warren) Qualley, Brenda (Rick) Newton and Mark (Cindy) Brown; many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Keith and Barbara Francis and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron (Karen) Francis.
