IN LOVING MEMORY

Marian Sherard Wilson

Mar 14 1934 - Dec 04 2014

Marian Letitia Sherard Wilson, 80, peacefully went home to heaven arm and arm with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, December 4, 2014. She died at her home in McKinney, Texas surrounded by family.

Marian grew up in Dallas, attended Dallas Country Day School and graduated from North Dallas High School. She earned a degree in education from Austin College in Sherman. She met James "Jim" Thompson Wilson in college, and they married on August 23, 1955. The couple had 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She taught 1st grade for 2 years at Ben Milam Elementary School in Dallas, while supporting her husband through the rigors of medical school. During Jim's service in the Navy, the family lived in the Philippines, Maryland, Virginia and Oklahoma. In 1965, they moved home to Texas and returned to Jim's hometown of McKinney, where Marian beautifully raised and loved her children, grandchildren and countless other children in the community.Marian taught at Rountree Elementary in Allen, and later worked as the office manager at Boring & Wilson Family Medicine for many years. Marian was a natural caregiver and leader. She was active in many McKinney activities and organizations. She served as president of Church Women United, and began and led the McKinney chapter of Meals on Wheels. She was especially gifted with children. A lifelong Presbyterian, she gave many children's sermons, taught Sunday School and the children's choir and led and volunteered at VBS every summer. She also served as a Cub Scout den mother for her son, was a Camp Fire leader for her daughters and later her granddaughter and was all-time home-room mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. William Clay Sherard and Ruth Emma Gardner Sherard, and her brother, William Clay Sherard, Jr.

She is survived by her loving husband: Dr. James T. Wilson; two daughters, Jennifer Ruth McCarley and husband Kevin of McKinney, and Amy Rebecca Kelly and husband Patrick of Albany, Texas; and one son, James T. Wilson, Jr. of McKinney. She also leaves nine grandchildren, Rachel Wilson Pittman and husband Ryan; Don Weaver Davis, Jr. and wife Ashley; Neil "Cotton" Davis, Jr. and fiancé Brooke Norman; Anson Wilson; Gardner Wilson; Abraham Wilson; George Kelly; Lewis Kelly; and Henry Kelly; and one great-grandson, Don Weaver "Trey" Davis, III. She also leaves a beloved sister-in-law, Barbara Kelley Sherard, and three fine nephews, Jim, Richard and Bob Sherard.

Visitation will be at Turrentine Jackson Morrow in Allen on Wednesday, December 10 from 6-8pm. A memorial service will be held at 11:30am on Thursday, December 11 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in McKinney with the Reverend Patrick McCoy presiding.

While Marian generously supported every organization that ever sent her a letter, she particularly loved The Samaritan Inn and the Presbyterian Children's Home.

We are certain that she immediately joined the heavenly choir, and by now has likely organized a weekly craft time.
