Margie Alene Boyd Marion was born Nov 22, 1929 in Allen, TX to Alton Weston Boyd & Boonie King Boyd & passed away Feb 21, 2010 at the age of 80. Margie is survived by her husband of 60 years, James Marion & her sons & daughter-in-laws: Randy & Kynda Marion, Gary & Kim Marion, & Steven & Debi Marion & grandchildren: Josh & Tara Marion, Blake & Lindsay Marion, Rebecca Marion, Monty Marion, Brooke Marion, & Evan & Grant Wolfe, great-grandson, Blake Wolfe, brother-in-law & wife, Carl & Sherry Marion, sister-in-laws Peggy Blacketer & Rhea Deaton, beloved cousins & numerous other family & friends. Margie graduated from Allen High School in 1947 and received a Bachelor of Education degree from North Texas State University and a Master’s in Library Science from Texas A & M Commerce. She began her teaching career in Allen in 1964 when the high school enrollment was just 63 students. Margie’s dedication to Allen ISD was unwavering and her contributions many. She was an original organizer of the drill team now known as the Tallenettes. Margie and James retired from Allen ISD in 1990 and later had the honor of having an elementary school named for them, James and Margie Marion Elementary. Margie was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in Allen where she played piano and organ for many years and where, at the time of her death, she had the longest continuing membership in the church. Visitation will be at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Tuesday, Feb 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb 24th at the First United Methodist Church, Allen, TX with Rev. June Franck officiating. Interment will be at Allen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Marion Elementary Library and addressed to James & Margie Marion Elementary, Attn: Cappi Leonard, 1595 Stablerun Dr, Allen, TX 75002. Pallbearers are sons Randy Marion, Gary Marion & Steve Marion and grandsons, Josh Marion, Blake Marion and Monty Marion.
