IN LOVING MEMORY

Margene Ricke

Oct 18 1939 - Feb 12 2009

Mrs. Margene Ricke, formerly of Plano, Texas, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009 at her home in McKinney, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer. Margene was born October 18, 1939 to Dwight and Pearl (Jones) Chesnut and was raised with two sisters and a brother on a farm/ranch in rural Palo Pinto County, Texas. Margene was an FFA sweetheart, enjoyed barrel racing and was a graduate of Mineral Wells High School, Santo, Texas. She had a spitfire of a personality, honest and straight forward, just like her grandma Minnie. On June 22, 1974 Margene married Charles J. Ricke, Jr. at her parents’ home. Margene loved to cook and try new recipes. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother who was dedicated to her family. Mrs. Ricke loved the LORD, her church and Sunday school class. She was an active member of the Hunters Glen Baptist Church in Plano. Her love for the underprivileged, young children and the elderly led to her volunteer work at nursing homes and with Child Protective Services. She is survived by her husband, Charles J. Ricke, Jr.; children: Gregory E. Keeney and Jill Elaine Graham; grandchildren; Ryan Whitson, Alexandria Whitson and Clark Graham; great-granddaughter, Aliyah Whitson; siblings: Barbara Woodard, Shirley Edwards and Harold Chesnut; step-children: Amy Annette Fitzpatrick and Charles Joseph Ricke, III. Preceding her in death are her parents, Dwight and Pearl Jones Chesnut and grandparents, John Abe and Laura Chesnut and Will F. and Minnie Jones. The family will receive guests Sunday evening beginning at 5:00 P.M. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 16, 2009, at the Hunters Glen Baptist Church, 4001 Custer Rd., Plano, Texas 75023 with Dr. Kim Hall officiating. A visitation will also be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday afternoon in Santo, Texas at the site of the old (restored) schoolhouse. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 P.M. in the Dobbs Valley Cemetery, near Santo, Texas. Memorials may be made to Gideon’s International, www.gideons.org.
