Margaret (Marge) Elizabeth Sims, age 95, of McKinney Texas passed away March 7, 2011. She was born November 13, 1915 in Peoria, Illinois to Conrad Cecil and Cora (Howard) Cecil. On February 1, 1941 she married Robert Joseph Sims in Howardstown, Kentucky. Marge graduated from St. Catherine's College in Springfield, Kentucky. She was a former member of St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown, Kentucky and St. Rafael Catholic Church in El Paso, Texas. She was a current member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas. Marge was the oldest of 9 children. With her English degree from St Catherine’s, Marge was an elementary school teacher before and during the War. A lifelong Army officers’ wife, she lived in Kentucky, Louisiana, Taiwan and settled in Texas. She was a Head Start teacher for 11 years in El Paso. She enjoyed traveling to France, Italy, England, Mexico, Canada, and Hawaii. She was an expert in bridge and crossword puzzles, but her greatest success was that of a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had the unusual ability to make her children and grandchildren feel special. “Mom-mo” will be missed by all. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Corbett and husband, Joe of Brandenburg, Kentucky; sons, Bobby Sims and wife, Susan of Reno, Nevada, Ray Sims and wife Deanne of Lucas, Texas, Mark Sims and wife Sandy of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Donna Burnett Hagan, Doug Burnett, Darryl Burnett, Raymond Smith, Taylor Sims, Kallie Yoas, Walker Sims, Andrea Sims, Jason Sims, Ryan Sims, Kelly Sims, Holly Goodwin and Rob Sims; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Roberta Stallings of El Paso, Texas, Mary Allan of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Sudie Smith of Shepherdsville, Kentucy; brother, Donald Cecil of Howardstown, Kentucky and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad and Cora Cecil; husband, Robert J Sims, Sr.; sisters, Iveta Sprowles and Gladice Berndt; brothers, Harold Cecil and Alfred Cecil. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, McKinney, Texas. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in her name to the St. Michaels Building Fund, 652 Redbud Blvd., McKinney TX 75069.
