Margaret Elizabeth MacArthur

Margaret Elizabeth MacArthur, age 90, of Plano, Texas, passed away July 29, 2008, in Plano. Margaret was born March 14, 1918 near Toronto, Canada to Grover and Fannie (Hobson) Smith. Margaret worked as secretary and office manager in several locations across Canada, including Jarvis Street Baptist Church, Toronto, Ontario and in Vancouver, British Columbia. She married Robert MacArthur on December 20, 1957 on the New Mexico Military Institute campus in Roswell, New Mexico. Margaret worked as librarian and executive secretary in various Roswell public schools prior to retiring in 1983. She moved away from Roswell in 1987 following the death of her beloved “Colonel Mac”. She is survived by her sons, Allan MacArthur and wife Deborah of Morocco, Africa, Sidney MacArthur of Arlington, Virginia, and Ross MacArthur and wife Susan of Plano, Texas; granddaughters, Heather, Erica, Arlene, Katherine, and Virginia; sister, Mary Sinden and husband Malcolm of Eastbourne, Sussex, England; sister-in-law Pearl Smith of Toronto, Canada; nephews and nieces, John and Faye Smith, Dorothy and Chris Roulson, Cathy and Don Powell, Donald and Doris Smith, Robert and Verna Smith, Graham and Dorothy Sinden, Clive Sinden, and David and Denise Sinden; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Fannie Smith; husband, Robert MacArthur; and brothers, Grover and David Smith. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM, Sunday, August 3, 2008, at Day Spring Assisted Living, 6400 Cheyenne, Plano, Texas with Keith Coley officiating.
