Margaret Ann Ferguson Lewis

Margaret Ann Ferguson Lewis, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend crossed into Heaven on July 23, 2013, in Allen, Texas at the age of 86. “Maggie” was born September 16, 1926, in Duncan, Oklahoma to Charles Edwin and Lydia Anne (Menger) Ferguson. She graduated from the University of Science & Arts in Oklahoma, Chickasha with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Psychology in 1949, and went on to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching from New Mexico State University, Las Cruces in 1964. Margaret was a devoted teacher over the course of 25 years in Neosho, Missouri, Albuquerque and Las Cruces, New Mexico, Des Moines, Iowa and Lubbock, Texas school systems. She also worked as a proofreader/editor in the Texas Senate Journal, Austin, Texas. Margaret was a member of Custer Road United Methodist Church in Plano.

She is survived by her sons, Zane Lewis and wife, Amy of Allen, Texas and Casey Lewis and wife, Teri of Glendale, California; daughter, Janet Cartlidge and husband Tom of Henrietta, Texas; grandchildren, Carson Lewis, Brianna Lewis, Ann Wilson, and Jana Cartlidge; former husband, Aubrey Lewis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Florence Ferguson, Mildred Ferguson and Charlene Richter.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas, preceded by a 3:00 p.m. visitation. Family and friends are also invited to the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday to pay their respects and to sign the register book.
