Margaret Leffer Flood

Margaret Leffer Flood, age 73, of Allen, Texas, passed away August 9, 2009, in McKinney, Texas. Margaret was born July 12, 1936 in Harrow, England to Friedrich Wilhelm and Dorothy Olivia (Soehrens) Leffer. She was raised in Illinois and Connecticut. Margaret met John Delprat Flood in Illinois and they married June 23, 1956 in Riverside. She and John, along with their three daughters, traveled wherever the United States Air Force sent them. Margaret was an awesome cook, adventurous and a forward thinker. She volunteered in her daughters schools and also in Girl Scouts. Margaret embraced and pioneered computer science/information technology during the 1970’s. She later obtained a teaching certificate and a bachelor of arts degree in computer technology from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. Margaret was a full time teacher at the Texas Military Institute in San Antonio. She retired from teaching and moved to Allen, Texas in 2003 with her husband of fifty-three years. After surviving breast cancer, she became active in the McKinney Cancer Center support group in addition to supporting the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation. She is survived by her husband, John of Allen, Texas; daughters, Janice Easterling and son-in-law, Duane, Karla Smith of Cordele, Georgia, and Lori Ramani and son-in-law, Harish of Rochester, New York; grandchildren, Amy Easterling Smith, Marcy Easterling Tozzi, Breeze Smith Strickland, Ginny Easterling, Angel Smith Wilson, and Danni Easterling; five great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; brother and sister-in-law, John and Fran Leffer of Illinois; and sister and brother-in-law Ann Ingrid and Bob Millikan of New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Dorothy Leffer, and brother, Freddy Leffer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Chaplain John Cocoris officiating. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Tuesday to pay their respects and to sign the register book.
