IN LOVING MEMORY

Marfesa Sue Craig

Oct 22 1933 - Aug 27 2014

Marfesa Sue Craig entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday, August 27 due to complications from multiple myeloma. She was a resident of Plano, Texas.

Sue, as she was known to her friends, was born on October 22, 1933, in Bluefield, WV to Marvin and Catharine (Stott) Lindamood. She spent much of her childhood in Bluefield with her beloved grandparents, James and Emma Jane Stott. On August 14, 1955, just the day after graduating from Florida State University with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and a minor in Early Childhood Education, she married Clifford Sherwood Craig. He was a Navy fighter pilot so they moved to Milton, Florida, where he was stationed at NAS Whiting Field. Their daughter, Janis Kay Craig Jones, was born there in 1957. Many moves later--she became an expert at moving--they moved to Palatine, Illinois when Cliff became a pilot for American Airlines. Their daughter, Wendy Sue Craig-Payne was born there in 1966. Soon after, they moved to Dallas, Texas. They lived in the Dallas area for most of the next 40 plus years.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, daughters and three grandchildren. Sue was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was looking forward to the marriage of her oldest grandson, Jared, and his fiancé, Abbie Dawn Meyer, and becoming a great grandmother to Abbie's son, Nate. Also, as her husband often said, "She was the nicest person I've ever met."

Sue is survived by her husband of 59 years, Cliff Craig of Plano, Texas; her children Jan Jones and her husband, Michael Clark Jones of Midland, TX, Wendy Craig-Payne and her husband, William Robert Payne of Dallas, Texas; her grandchildren, Jared Craig Clark Jones, of Lubbock, Texas, Samuel Thomas Jones and Sydney Sue Jones, both of Midland, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
