Mrs. Maggie LaFon, age 87, formerly of Branch, Texas passed away peacefully on January 23, 2004, in Lancaster, Texas. She was born April 5, 1916, in Branch to William and Etta (Crawford) Bowman. On September 21, 1931, she married Alton Lee LaFon in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Mrs. LaFon was a homemaker and a member of the Branch Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons, Roy LaFon and wife, Peggy of Red Oak, Texas, Olan LaFon and wife, Jean of Garland, Texas, and Merle LaFon and wife, Paulette of Branch; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother, William Bowman of Branch; sister, Dorothy Bullock of Dallas, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. Her parents; husband, Alton LaFon; 4 sisters and 1 brother preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2004, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Scott Sprouse officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Monday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers will be Rick LaFon, Mike LaFon, Robert Walton, Michael Frost, Donald Williams, Robert Black, Jeremiah Wolf, and Zachary LaFon.
