Mackey D. Murdock of Plano, Texas passed away August 16, 2012 at the age of 80. He was born April 24, 1932 to J.T. and Opal Mae (Jackson) Murdock in Goree, Texas. Mackey served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Doris “Jo Anne” Taylor on December 28, 1954 in Colorado City, Texas. Mackey retired from Texas Instruments after 30 plus years of service. He was the author of five fiction and non-fiction books.
He is survived by his wife Doris “Jo Anne” Murdock of Plano, Texas; daughters, Sheri Murdock of Quinlan, Texas and Julie Murdock of Allen, Texas; grandson, Shane Chavoya and wife Christine of Garland, Texas; nephew, Wayne Kinnaird and wife Susan; niece, Keri Kinnaird.
Mackey was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas with Derrel McGlathery officiating. The family will receive friends during a remembrance gathering on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
