Lynda Kay Gunn Shackelford, a resident of Plano, Texas was taken home to be with the Lord February 6, 2012. Lynda was born on October 12, 1949 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and adopted by Ruby and James Elma Gunn who raised her in Pampa, Texas. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1968 and Texas Tech University in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in Education. At Texas Tech she was an active member of Chi Omega and met her husband of 40 years, Gary Shackelford. Lynda and Gary married August 7, 1971 at First United Methodist in Pampa, Texas and spent time in Amarillo, Chicago, Jacksonville (FL) and Fort Worth, before moving to Plano where they have resided for 30 years. Lynda was a passionate business woman and founded AIA Life and Health Services, an insurance agency, in 1985. She loved her work and the clients she served for 27 years; she will be greatly missed in the health insurance business. Lynda loved the Lord and chose to serve through membership in the choir and teaching Sunday school. She studied the bible with passion and loved the study of the End Times. Lynda was a loving mother and precious Mimi; Heaven gained the most wonderful angel on Monday night! Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and J.E. Gunn. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gary Shackelford; daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Cory Curry, Sara  and Kallen McCoy; three grandsons, Hogan Joseph and Maurice “Rece” James Curry and Whitfield Gunn McCoy. A celebration of the vivacious and beautiful soul of  Lynda Shackelford will be held at Custer Road United Methodist Church in Plano and officiated by Tim Morrison on Friday, February 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas following the ceremony.
