Lucile Mae Wood

Lucile Mae Wood of McKinney, Texas passed away November 11, 2015 at the age of 95.  She was born May 1, 1920 to Frank and Myrtle (Hashberger) Johns in Schuyler, Nebraska.  Lucile served her country in the United States Army.  She married Dent Wadell Wood on May 4, 1944 in Frederick, Maryland.  Lucile worked as an insurance clerk for Collin Memorial Hospital and Medical Center of McKinney for many years.  She served as a PTA President, Cub Scouts Leader and was an active member in En Avant and the McKinney Professional and Business Women's Club.  Lucile was most passionate in her volunteer work at the hospital with over 8,000 hours of service.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of McKinney.

Lucile is survived by her sons, Robert D. Wood and wife Bettie of Tatum, Texas and Donald D. Wood of McKinney, Texas; daughter Cindy Underwood and husband Steve of Coppell, Texas; brother Richard Johns of Omaha, Nebraska; and grandchildren Vona Nicholson, Crystal Ritter, Jason Wood and Callie Sanders; great-grandchildren Lindsey, Rachel, Mason, Austin, Savannah, Alyssa, and Jenna.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Russell Johns.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen.  The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
