Louis Edward Schmitt

Louis Edward Schmitt, age 67, of McKinney, Texas, formerly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away April 7, 2013, in Plano, Texas. Louis was born September 11, 1945, in Ogden, Utah, to Barbara A. (Duersch) and Carl J. Schmitt. He married his high school sweetheart on September 17, 1966, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania. Lou was a graduate of Duquesne University with a degree in Economics. He worked for USC Consulting Group from 1972-2010, retiring as Senior Partner and Vice President, Operations. Lou later became Chief Executive Officer of his family’s business, Up in Smoke. He was a lifetime member of the NRA as well as an avid golfer, gun enthusiast and coin collector. Lou also loved sports, especially the Pirates, the Penguins, and the Steelers. Throughout his life, Lou always placed his family and friends’ well being over his own.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Schmitt of McKinney, Texas; sons, Dan Schmitt and wife, Jill of McKinney, Texas and their children, Lexie and Cole Schmitt and Robert Schmitt and wife, Lori of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania; brothers, Ralph Schmitt of Detroit, Michigan, Tom Schmitt of Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania, Frank Schmitt of Ogden, Utah, and Don Schmitt also of Ogden; brother-in-law, Anthony Antonacci and wife, Lynda of Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Donna Antonacci Knarr and husband, Dr. Jack Knarr of Roanoke, VA; and numerous other loving family and friends.

His parents preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2013, at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas. Interment will follow at Wear Cemetery in Prosper, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday evening with a rosary following at 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
