Louis "Wib" Godwin

Louis “Wib” Godwin, age 87, of Princeton, Texas, passed away July 16, 2008 in McKinney, Texas. He was born December 3, 1920, in Princeton, Texas, the son of John Gerard and Clara (Rains) Godwin. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army and was a POW. On July 18, 1945, he married Hazel Marie Williams in McKinney. Wib retired from E-Systems in 1981, where he had been an aircraft assembler. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Princeton, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Hazel; sons, Donny Godwin and his wife, Vicki of Melissa and Richard Godwin and his wife, Lorri of Garland; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and sister, Ethylene Shipp of Lubbock, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dub and Ed Godwin; and sister, Evelyn Spaugh. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas with Rev. Darrell Sanderlin officiating. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
