Lou Jean Ragland, age 79, of Allen, Texas, passed away January 26, 2011, in Allen. Lou was born February 10, 1931, in Plainview, Texas, to Cecil and Buena (Gambrell) Bennett. She married Archie Franklin Ragland on November 12, 1949, in Paducah, Texas. Lou grew up in Paducah, Texas where she attended school. She graduated from Paducah High School in 1948. Lou attended Draughns Business College in Lubbock, Texas for two years. She worked for GMAC as a collection correspondent. Lou was a Navy wife and in 1980, the family moved to San Antonio where she owned and operated Lou’s Hallmark Store which included three locations. In 2002, they moved to Denton and moved in 2007 to Allen to be closer to their family. Lou enjoyed reading, gardening, and traveling. She is survived by her husband, Archie Ragland of Allen, Texas; daughters, Jan Covington and husband, Richard of Allen, Texas and Darla Erwin and husband, Max of Boyd, Texas; granddaughters, Amy Pratt and husband, Brian of Anna, Texas and Karen Thomas and husband, Dustin of McKinney, Texas; great-grandchildren, Mason Pratt, Canon Pratt, and Braydon Pratt; and sister, Cheryl Estes of Montgomery, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m., Friday evening in the chapel at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
