IN LOVING MEMORY

Lorua Johnson

Aug 10 1961 - Nov 30 2014

Lorua Johnson was born in Seoul, Korea to Olen and Ok Nyon Hunt on August 10, 1961. Her sister, Lindy, and brother, Olen ("OJ") would later follow 3 and 9 years later. The Hunt family moved to Killeen, Texas, in 1971, when Olen was assigned to the Ft. Hood army base. Lorua was remembered as a happy and friendly young girl who many times was in charge of taking care of her younger siblings and cousins growing up. This often included taking everyone swimming at the community pool and getting Popsicles at Dairy Queen during the summers. Lorua attended the University of Texas in Austin for her bachelor’s degree and met her future husband, Jim, during her junior year of college. Jim and Lorua had a storybook romance and their love for each other was unfailing and clearly visible to all around. They spent their time three wheeling, skiing, road tripping to the coast, and country line dancing on the weekends. On August 9, 1986, they married in Lorua's hometown in front of family and friends. They welcomed their daughter, Rachel, one year later. Lorua thrived as a mother and showered Rachel with unconditional love and compassion. In the years to come, Jim, Lorua, and Rachel embraced every joy and took on every challenge together. Their bond as a family was unbreakable. Lorua will be remembered for her warm embrace that made everyone she met feel welcome and at ease. Her bubbly personality mixed with class and elegance has left a wonderful legacy that will be celebrated by her family. She is survived by her husband, Jim, daughter, Rachel Edwards, son-in-law, Michael Edwards, granddaughter, Madison Lorua Edwards, her Mother, Ok Nyon Hunt, her brother OJ, her sister, Lindy, and many other relatives who will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her father, Olen Hunt, and her mother-in-law, Mary Alma Johnson.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Park United Methodist Chapel, 3300 Mockingbird Ln. Highland Park, Texas 75205. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
