IN LOVING MEMORY

Loretta Rue Hopper

Jun 30 1929 - May 10 2015

On Sunday, May 10, 2015 Loretta Rue Alley Hopper of Desert, Texas was called home at the age of 85. If you knew her, you were lucky. Even those who only met her in passing would agree. No one was kinder and more welcoming, no one took the commandment to “love thy neighbor” to heart as she did. Loretta was raised near Desert Creek, a child of the depression. Poverty didn’t breed resentment, it instead taught her to appreciate what we have and make sure other were taken care of. Even though she lived in different states across the United States and even for a spell in post-war France, her heart always belonged with her family on Desert Creek.   She was a calm voice when you were worried or scared. She was a counselor, offering wisdom and guidance. She was a nurse to those who were sick; staying stronger than anyone else possible could as she watched siblings, spouses, and even a son depart this world before her. Most of all, she was accepting. She strove to love people as they were, not as who she thought they could or should be. Loretta gave her all to help those around her and always stood as a reminder of what can be accomplished if we love those around us unconditionally. We will miss her dearly. But we will never forget her.

Loretta is survived by; sons: Larry and Vicki Alley of Tyler, Texas; Wayne Alley of Desert, Texas; James and Linda Alley of Desert, Texas; daughter: Helen and Richard Weaver of McKinney, Texas; her brothers: Vernon Burgess of Desert, Texas and Bob Burgess of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters: Gail Bowers of Blue Ridge, Texas and Dora Lou Anderson of Little Elm, Texas. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Loretta was preceded in death by husbands, Elford Alley and Jack Hopper and her son, Skippey Alley.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 14th from 6-8 p.m. at the Hurst’s Fielder Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville, Texas. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Blue Ridge, Texas on Friday, May 15th at 10:00 a.m.   Burial will follow at the Cross Roads Cemetery in Desert, Texas.
