Lorene Kemp

Lorene Kemp, age 92, of Melissa, Texas, went to be with Jesus at 3:30 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2015, in McKinney, Texas. Lorene was born July 15, 1922, in McKinney, Texas, to Veretta and Eva Loma (Dunn) Wilson. She graduated from Boyd High School in McKinney in 1949. Lorene married Cleo Kemp on April 14, 1951, in McKinney and they were married for fifty-one years. Lorene was employed with Woolworth on the square in downtown McKinney and Lone Star Gas, but she spent the majority of her working career as a secretary at Collin County Farmers Mutual Insurance Company for thirty-five years, retiring in 1992. She volunteered for many years at the McKinney Chamber of Commerce. Lorene loved the Lord dearly and had been a member of First Baptist Church of Melissa since 1949. She taught juniors for over twenty years, volunteered her secretarial skills at the church for thirty-eight years, and was always involved in church work.   Lorene was also a member of the Pioneer Club. She was the last survivor of eleven siblings.

She is survived by her nephew, Philip Frizzell and wife and Lorene’s best friend, Sharon of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Allison Frizzell of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Stephen Frizzell also of McKinney; nieces, Melba Sampson and husband Richard of Allen, Texas and Treece Hamill and husband, Richard of McKinney; numerous nieces and nephews; great friends, Helen Browning and Kay Lyle; and her church family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo Kemp and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
