Funeral services for Lola M. Berry Childress, 97 year old Celeste resident, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday January 3, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church of Celeste. Rev. Bill Eason will officiate. Family visitation was Saturday July 2nd from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard. Burial will be in the Lane Cemetery. Mrs. Childress passed away Thursday December 31st at the Hunt County Regional Hospital at Greenville. Mrs. Childress was born November 6, 1912 at Lane, Texas. Her parents were L.E. "Gene" and Nancy Frances Smith Berry. She was a seamstress, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Celeste, the Home Demonstration Club, Grange and P.T.A. She married Robert Clifton Childress October 19, 1935 at Pike, Texas. He preceded her in death in May of 1990. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Robert and Vi Childress of Celeste; her daughter and son-in-law: Donna Jane and Jim Haynes of Lake Charles, LA.; her grandsons: Robert Ray Childress of Mesquite, TX., James Parker Haynes of Greenville, S.C. and Steven Craig Haynes of Baytown, TX.; her 7 great grandchildren: Lacy Childress, Nicki Childress, Mike Nichols, Scott Childress, Marla Haynes Fincher, Jackie Diane Haynes and Christian Taylor Haynes. She is also survived by her 2 great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Earnest E. Berry and Ocie E. Berry and her sister: Rena Darlene Kirkland.
