Lois Faye was born in a sod house in Custer City, Oklahoma to Lula and Frank Hays in 1919. The only sister to four brothers, she grew up around cattle and livestock. She graduated from Southwestern State College in three years with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She went on to complete her Masters degree at Oklahoma University in Norman and began her teaching career there.

In 1947, she met and married, Mutt Wesley Puckett. They moved to Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Louisiana where Mutt was a Master Sergeant and she continued her First grade teaching career which lasted for the next 30 years. During this time she also went on to continue her studies with doctorate hours at Centenary College in Shreveport.

Lois Faye moved to Plano in 2009 and resided at the Legacy Senior Living Community. She flourished there – surrounded by wonderful and caring friends and staff. She could be found either in the library with her newspapers, in the fitness center exercising, participating in the many lectures or walking her constant companion, her dachshund, Scooter.

Her family is indebted to the loving staff at the Legacy as well as to the wonderful and compassionate doctors and nurses at Medical Center of Plano who cared for her during her brief illness.
