Lois L. Brown

Lois L. Brown, age 80, of Aubrey, Texas, formerly of Coffeyville, Kansas and Bella Vista, Arkansas, passed away suddenly, but peacefully on November 4, 2013, in McKinney, Texas. Lois was born July 19, 1933, in Kit Carson, Colorado, to Amos C. and Juanita (Stair) Kolb. She married G. Tom Brown on August 22, 1963, in Miami, Oklahoma. Lois and her husband, G. Tom Brown were co-owners of Brown Electric Company in Coffeyville, Kansas and she also owned Lo-Villa-B Builders in Bella Vista, Arkansas where she designed, built and sold multiple homes. She was a former member of The First Christian Church in Coffeyville, Kansas and then a member of The Bella Vista Community Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. First and foremost, she was very special to her family and a loyal friend to all. Lois enjoyed socializing, entertaining and being around people. While in Coffeyville, she spent many years serving as a member of the Daughters of the Nile in Pittsburg, Kansas, where she was a past queen. While in Bella Vista, Lois enjoyed participating and tapping with “The Sophisticated Ladies”. She was also a member or part of “The Georgia Boys and Girls”, along with her husband. Lois and Tom were members of the Kansas group in Bella Vista.

She is survived by her daughter, Jan Garner and husband, Larry of Aubrey; sons, Mike Brown and former wife, Jana of Joplin, Missouri and David Brown of Holly Grove, Arkansas; grandchildren, Holly Strong and husband, Jason, Casey Keller and husband, Brian, and Katelyn Haight and husband, Travis, and Jordan Garner; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Cohen, Conner Ramirez, Kinley Ramirez, Parker Strong, Hayden Strong, Carson Strong, and Talon Haight; sisters, Violet Wilde of Puyallup, Washington and Thelma Dewey and husband, Terry of Bella Vista, Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Lloyd Kolb.

A celebration of Lois’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, November 10, 2013, at the Creekside Clubhouse, 900 Villa Paloma Blvd., Little Elm, Texas, 75018.

A graveside inurnment service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Restlawn Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas. Please join us in honor of Lois, as we celebrate her life. Following the service, we invite you to The Coffeyville Country Club at 3:30 p.m., where we can enjoy fellowship and a meal together.
