Lloyd Beam, age 97, of McKinney, Texas, passed away July 20, 2014. Lloyd was born April 20, 1917, in Portersville, West Virginia, to William H. and Laura Gertrude (Gainer) Beam. He married Mable Parsons on December 4, 1941, in Illinois. She preceded him in death in 2013. Lloyd was married to the love of his life for seventy-one years. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was awarded the Asiatic Campaign Medal. Lloyd retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company after thirty-six years. He was a fifty year Mason with the Akron Lodge in Akron, Ohio. Lloyd was an avid fisherman at Lake Erie and South Padre Island with his wife and he loved his kitty, Marvin.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathryn Melching and husband, Wayne of McKinney, Texas and Carolyn Trego and husband, Jeff of Royal Palm Beach, Florida; granddaughters, Tara Newkirk of Maui, Hawaii and Rachele Davies and husband, James of West Palm Beach, Florida; grandson, Bryan Russell and wife, Audra of Pottsboro, Texas; great-granddaughters, Taylor Newkirk and Olivia Morifuju both of Maui, Hawaii, Abbey Newkirk of Southlake, Texas, and Tara Wilson of Pottsboro, Texas; great-grandsons, Grayson Russell and Jake Wilson, both of Pottsboro; special son-in-law, Barry Newkirk of Southlake, Texas; and special niece, Polly Marshall and husband, David of West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two sisters, and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
