Lisa Martin, loving and devoted wife, mother, and sister, died Monday, September 20th, 2004, in a tragic automobile accident south of Sherman, Texas. With Lisa were her mother Betsy Wood, and three sons, Chance Michael born on March 6, 2000, Brock James Born on October 30, 2001, and Reid Brookins Martin born on July 26, 2004. Lisa was born on June 9th, 1972, in Irving, Texas to parents James and Betsy Wood. She graduated from Laredo United High School in 1990, and earned a B.S. degree from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas, where she met her husband, Mike Martin. They married on July 13th, 1996, and had three sons, Chance, Brock, and Reid. Lisa had a passion for life and her enthusiasm and positive attitude was contagious. She had a way of making everyone around her feel special. She had a gift for working with children and used this gift to teach school in Texas for 7 years. In doing so, she touched the lives of many families and made a difference in her world. In 2003, Lisa was selected as Teacher of the Year at Hackberry Elementary in Little Elm ISD. However the greatest accomplishment in her life was being a mom to her own three beautiful children. Lisa had a strong commitment to God and strove to follow His ways in her daily life. Lisa and her family attended the Grace Outreach Church in Plano, Texas. Lisa is survived by her loving husband Mike Martin, father Dr. James R. Wood of McKinney, TX, brothers Ronald Wood of Washington, D.C., Roger Wood of Tyler, TX, sister Laura Lokey, brother-in-law Jason Lokey, niece Kaley Lokey, and nephews Jay and Landry Lokey of Farmersville, TX. Chance, Brock, and Reid are survived by their grandmother Susan Martin of Round Rock, TX, grandfather Mike Martin of Abilene, TX, grandfather Dr. James R. Wood of McKinney, TX, uncle Zach and Aunt Ashley Martin of Nacogdoches, TX, uncles Ronald Wood of Washington, D.C., and Roger Wood of Tyler, TX, aunt Laura Lokey, uncle Jason Lokey, and cousins Kaley, Jay, and Landry Lokey, of Farmersville, TX. Services will be held at the High Pointe Church of Christ in McKinney, TX, on Thursday, September 23rd at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Gerald Brooks officiating.
