IN LOVING MEMORY

Linda Lou Frye Walton

Aug 03 1944 - Apr 24 2011

Linda Lou Frye Walton was born on August 3, 1944 in Ada, Oklahoma to James C. "Buddy" Frye and Doris (Burns) Frye. She passed away on April 24, 2011 after a long battle with illnesses that would have caused many people to simply sit down and give up. However, her zest for life and love for family and friends provided an exceptional energy and will to live. Linda is survived by John, her husband of 46 years, daughter Tami Hormell and husband Brian, daughter Wendy Davidson and husband Terry, grandchildren Amanda McDermott and husband Paul, Jeremy Hormell and wife Ally, Mat Hormell and wife Ashley, Jared Hormell, Alexis Davidson and Trey Davidson, and great grandchildren Addison Walton and Jacob McDermott. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Steven Walton. She is also survived by her sisters Sande Wright and husband Bob, and Penny Looney and husband Danny, and sister-in-law Susan Vinson and husband Jim, as well as multiple nieces and nephews. Linda spent most of her adolescence in Ada, moving to Duncan, Oklahoma when she was in the fifth grade. Linda was an honor graduate of Duncan Senior High School and proceeded to St. Anthony’s School of Nursing at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City to fulfill her lifelong dream to become a Registered Nurse. In 1965, she graduated at the top of her class and married her high school sweetheart, John Walton. After John graduated from college, they moved to Richardson, Tx where they have resided ever since. After Tami and Wendy were both in school in 1976, Linda began working as a pediatric nurse for Dr. Larry Patton and worked with him until he closed his practice in the mid-1990's. In the early 1990’s, she learned that a group of pediatricians had established a free pediatric clinic in association with the Richardson Community Ministries (a group providing help to low income families in Richardson). She began volunteering as a nurse for the pediatric clinic and soon took on the added responsibility of working with area doctors and drug company representatives to obtain free medications for use in the clinic. Even after her illness prevented her working as a nurse in the clinic she continued to act as office manager , monitoring, ordering and stocking the medications for the clinic. For her continued and tireless work for the clinic, Linda was named the City of Richardson Volunteer of the Year for 2000. Linda loved to travel and, fortunately, John’s work allowed them the opportunity to travel and see many wondrous places in England and Europe. In 2002, John and Linda purchased a motorhome which allowed them and their beloved Lollipop to travel throughout the United States and see much of the beauty of the US in spite of the limitations of her illness. She always said that they bought the motorhome so that Lollipop (she wasn't a puppy - she was a small, fuzzy person) could go with them. Unfortunately, God had plans for Linda that cut short their plans to see all the sights of all 48 states. Linda was a wife that wanted to love and be a companion and homemaker, a mother that wanted her children to be happy, a grandmother and great grandmother that wanted her grandchildren and great grandchildren to be spoiled, and a friend that rejoiced in knowing and caring about people. She will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2011, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral, Allen, Texas.
