IN LOVING MEMORY

Linda Ann Schenck

Dec 15 1945 - Jun 06 2015

Linda Ann Taylor Schenck lost her short battle with cancer June 6th, 2015. She went to Heaven to be a Red Headed Texas Republican Angel. Linda was born December 15th, 1945 in Fort Worth, Texas to Alton and Ann Taylor. She grew up in Wichita Falls. Linda married Stephen Schenck on October 17th, 1975. They raised their son Kenneth and daughter Debra in McKinney. Linda worked at Texas Instruments early in her career and later went on to work as the District Assistant for Congressman Ralph Hall for ten years in his McKinney Congressional office. In addition to her professional career, she trained show dogs and raised goats. Linda is the definition of a grassroot republican. She started on her first republican campaign at age thirteen working for Eisenhower and touting “I Like Ike”.  Linda grew up in politics and hit the ground running when she moved to Collin County in 1978. She joined her first TFRW club in 1980, and was a member and served as an officer for many Republican Clubs in Collin County. Linda served on the Texas Federation of Republican Women Board as Cap Alert Chairman, Scholarship Committee, District Director for District 8 from 2007 to 2009, and Secretary of the TFRW Board

2009 - 2011.   She served in the Collin County Republican Party as an active precinct chair for precinct 128 for over threedecades, is a recipient of the Gladys Harrington Award, Lincoln Day Dinner committee chair, and attended numerousRepublican conventions over the last 35 years where she served in leadership roles on numerous committees. Linda served as the First Vice Chairman of the Collin County Republican party under two different County Chairmen, andreceived numerous awards including the Collin County Chairman Award several times, PRW’s Ann Harrington Award in 2009; TFRW Tribute to Women (PRW) 2010, SD8 volunteer of the year award and is Plano Republican Women’s 2015 nominee for the Top Ten Republican Women Award given by the Texas Federation of Republican Women.

She recently received a joint Texas House and Senate Resolution from State Representative Jodie Laubenberg and Senator Van Taylor proclaiming “That Linda Schenck be honored for her dedicated service to the Republican Party and that she be commended for her notable achievement as a grassroots political leader.”

Those who knew Linda knew she was a “roll up your sleeves and get to work” kind of woman. She has been working for the Republican Party behind the scenes and on the front lines for over five decades. She had a deep rooted love for ourparty and it showed in her work ethic. Linda forgot more about politics and then most people will ever know.

Linda is survived by her husband, Stephen Schenck; son, Kenneth Schenck and wife Cindy of Wylie; daughter, Debra Schenck Gesner and husband Gordon of Garland; granddaughter, Erica Gesner of Garland; mother, Ann Taylor of Wichita Falls; sister, Judy Taylor Ovington and husband Ron of Wichita Falls; and brother, Billy Taylor and wife Cindy of Wichita Falls.
