Linda C. Colvin

Linda C. Colvin (Tsukahara), beloved wife of David Colvin, passed to the next life on February 15, 2017. She  was born May 30, 1946, to Marion A. Ashley and Dr. William T. Tsukahara. Linda grew up in Garland and graduated from Garland High School in 1964. She attended North Texas State University where she received her Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences with a Secondary Teaching certificate. Linda received her Master's degree from East Texas State University in Special Education with an Education Diagnostician certification. She was employed with the Garland Independent School District and worked as a Special Education teacher and Educational Diagnostician at multiple locations throughout the district.  Linda was also the Special Education Facilitator for South Garland High School. Prior to working for GISD, she was employed at Texas Instruments, where she met her husband David. Together they also owned and operated several small businesses including a craft store, car washes and a small hardware store. She and David were also teachers, part owners and members of the founding staff of Bending Oaks Private High School. Linda's hobbies included reading, gardening and taking care of her family pets. Linda enjoyed spending time with her family. She was married to David for 48 years. During their marriage they lived for short periods in Oak Harbor Island, WA, Niceville, FL and Virginia Beach, VA. They returned to Texas and built their home in Van Alstyne, where she passed peacefully with her loved ones.
 
Linda is survived by her husband, David Colvin; step children, Lisa Renshaw and Allen Colvin; sisters and brothers, Martha Tsukahara, Ellen Gordon, Bobbie Tsukahara, Terry Weaver, Henry Ashley, Jerry Ashley and Kathleen Ashley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother and step father, Marion and Henry Ashley and her father Dr. William T. Tsukahara.
 
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.  Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
