IN LOVING MEMORY

Lillian May Witt

Jun 04 1921 - Dec 09 2010

Lillian May Witt, 89, entered into her heavenly rest on Dec. 9, 2010. Friends and family will gather for visitation from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 12 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco, Texas. Funeral services to celebrate Lillian’s life will be held Monday, Dec. 13, at the First Baptist Church of Frisco, with burial to follow at Little Elm Cemetery. Lillian was born June 4, 1921, in Glastonbury, Connecticut to Stanley and Gladys Sheffield. While working at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft she met Army Air Corp pilot Woodrow Witt. Lillian and Woodrow were married in Denton, Texas, on May 28, 1944. They lived most of their 63 years of marriage in and around the Little Elm-Frisco area. They were blessed with three children, Nancy, Jim, and Sharon. They lost a fourth child, Charles Curtis, at birth. Lillian was a loving wife, mother, and” Memaw “ who enjoyed raising her children, making a warm and happy home, socializing with friends, participating in Garden Club activities and the Lions Club Ladies Auxiliary. She served in the children’s department and in other church ministries as a member of the First Baptist Church of Little Elm; at the time of her death she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frisco. Lil, as she was known to many, was best known and appreciated for her caring, giving nature. She lived for others, spread sunshine wherever she went, and was acclaimed by almost all who knew her as one of the sweetest women they had ever met. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Woodrow, her son, Charles Curtis, and a brother, Curt Sheffield. Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Sharon Griffin and husband, Scott, of Frisco, Texas, Nancy Canonico and husband, Robert, of China Spring, Texas, Jim Witt and wife, Lois, of Little Elm, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Croxall and husband, Al, of W. Hartford, Conn., and “adopted” children, Chris and Walt Ochenski.
