Leslie Eldon Hastings, age 81, of McKinney, Texas, passed away November 22, 2012, in McKinney. Leslie was born May 12, 1931, in Bremer County, Iowa, to Burr Farnsworth and Beatrice Beth (Feuchtwanger) Hastings. He married Claribel Anderson on September 10, 1950, in Waterloo, Iowa. Leslie was a former Lions Club member in Waverly, Iowa and Humboldt, Iowa. He enjoyed being a part of the bridge club at the Grand Reserve in McKinney. Leslie was a member of First United Methodist Church of McKinney.
He is survived by his wife, Claribel Hastings of McKinney, Texas; son, Jeff Hastings and wife, Jeanette of Alvin, Texas; daughters, Janet Short and husband, Frank of Des Moines, Iowa and Christine Schuster of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Stephen Hastings and wife, Tara, Jennifer Nantt and husband, Brad, Amanda Short, Linsey Short, John Schuster, and Sara Schuster; great-grandchildren, Anna Lynn Short, TyAnn Short, and Sophia Nantt; sister, Glenda Millard of Des Moines, Iowa; and numerous other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harold Hastings, and sisters, Katherine Englekeys, Alice Burman, and Marjorie Newkirk.
A memorial service was held on Friday, November 23, 2012, at 3:00 p.m., at the Grand Reserve of the Country Lane Apartments in McKinney and was officiated by Rev. Don Renshaw and Rev. Jeff Hastings.
