Leona Riggs Younger

Leona Riggs Younger, age 100, of McKinney, Texas, passed away August 22, 2015. Leona was born August 18, 1915, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to William Albert and Leona (Reynolds) Bulkley. She was a secretary with the Austin Independent School District. Leona was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, John Abston Chapter in McKinney as well as a lifetime member of the En Avant Club. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels in McKinney for a number of years. Leona enjoyed playing bridge and traveling. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in McKinney.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Underwood of McKinney, Texas; granddaughters, Michelle Lee Thompson and Carin Sue Morton, both of McKinney; great-grandchildren, Brittany Michelle Clayton, Stanton Lee Rogers, Emily Sue Thompson, Strother Douglass Thompson, Julia Faith Blackwell, and Abagail Hope Blackwell; great-great-grandson, Landon Carter Clayton; and nephews, George Ray Bulkley and wife, Rose Ann of Las Vegas, Nevada and Albert Legge and wife, Carmen of Bastrop, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Alfred Younger.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, Texas. A Remembrance Gathering will be held from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
