Leona (Lee) Mae Phillips

Leona (Lee) Mae Phillips passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones she laughed with, lived for, and loved on August 27, 2014 in Plano, Texas, at the age of 82 following a brief hospital stay.

Leona was born in Wichita, Kansas May 2, 1932. She married Russell Edward Phillips in 1950; he was the love of her life for 56 years. Leona had an unwavering faith in God. She was an avid studier of scripture and loved to share her faith with others. She was devoted to her family and friends, and was a consummate mother and homemaker. She also enjoyed traveling, shopping and fishing.

Leona is preceded in death by her parents, C.C. (Red) and Mae Wadkins; husband, Russell Phillips; sister, Dora Wadkins Engle; and brothers Jimmy and M.C. Wadkins.

Leona is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lynna Langley of Dallas, Texas, Jan Blanchard and her husband Ed of Plano, Texas and Angela Phillips of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, Tom Langley, Russell Blanchard and Bryan Blanchard; great-grandchildren, Liza, Hannah, Russell, Maddie and Kinley; great-great-grandchildren, Joseph and Lillie; sister, Neoma Thomas of Muskogee, Oklahoma; and her nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen, Texas.

Leona supported several charities that benefited children. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
