Leon L. Patterson

Mr. Leon L. Patterson, of Plano, Texas, passed away July 23, 2007, in Plano. He was born on April 8, 1925, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Earl and Bessie Elmira (Threadkill) Patterson. Mr. Patterson served his country in the US Army during World War II in the 70th Infantry Division and was a member of the American Legion. On December 16, 1950, he married Lauralee Newell in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Leon was a chemical engineer from 1950 to 1988, working for both City Service Oil and Ford, Bacon & Davis. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Plano and spent time working at the church with the Yardbirds group. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Lauralee; son, David Patterson and his wife Karen of Seguin, TX; daughter, Kathleen Thomas and her husband Charles of Houston, TX; grandchildren, William Thomas of Austin, and Ryan and Eric Patterson of Seguin, TX; brother, Earl E. Patterson and his wife Jean of Richmond, VA; and nephew, Bob Patterson of Richmond, VA. His parents preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, July 26, 2007, at First United Methodist Church of Plano, 3160 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, TX 75074, with Rev. Gary E. Mueller and Rev. Dale Swain officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Yardbirds, 3160 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, TX 75074.
